The Email Classification Engine

I'm running a live workshop called The Email Classification Engine, so you can build an AI that reads, sorts, and evaluates your emails — locally, with no API costs and no data leaving your machine.

The focus is on measuring how well your AI performs on your actual data — not on setting up email infrastructure. You'll have a working engine with a proper eval setup so you can validate accuracy before you ship anything.

We'll get there with 4 components:

The Classification Engine

Reads your emails and sorts them into defined buckets — reply, follow-up, done, confirm, or whatever fits your use case. Built on Ollama and local n8n. Prompts are tested and working.

The Eval Setup

Accuracy metrics you can run yourself — so you know how well the AI is actually performing on your data before you ship anything. This is what got my own setup past 95%.

The Model Comparison

Which local models work for this, which don't, and what each one costs to run. No guessing.

The n8n Workflow

The complete workflow to run the engine. Plumbing for email ingestion is not included — I'll point you in the right direction — but everything else is.

This exact setup has classified thousands of emails at over 95% accuracy – across my own inbox and corporate client environments. Your results depend on your email patterns and bucket definitions.

You'll leave with a working Email Classification Engine including:

  • Tested prompts you can adapt to any buckets you define

  • An eval framework so you know how accurate your engine is before you ship it

  • A local model shortlist (incl. models from Google, OpenAI, and Alibaba)

  • A reusable n8n workflow you can extend

Note: This is the engine, not the car. I designed this workshop for people working on real Email AI use cases – with or without local setups. This is a key building block, but not an end-to-end solution.
